No.8 the railway's only oil-burner has undergone a major re-fit during recent months. Images provided by Brian Lowe show the new look to this now coal-burning loco. I bet it will turn heads once its in traffic. If you have images of this loco and would like to share them on this site contact Allan Shirley.

VOLUNTEERING

I wonder how many of you have ever considered volunteering on the Bure Valley Railway and then decided not to proceed further. Why not?.........


I would not be at all surprised if the answers to the above question are as follows-

  • I have no useful skills to offer the Railway
  • I cannot spare enough time
  • Every one who presently is either paid or is a volunteer is an expert.

If the above answers are the one or more that you gave then you could not be more wrong.

So you think that you would like to be a guard? If you like the public and are confident in dealing with them you have the basics.

However guarding is not just about blowing a whistle and waving a flag – far from it. You, as guard, are in charge of the train and are responsible for the safety of your passengers.

2010 A. G. M.

The AGM will be held in the 'Whistlestop' Diner at Aylsham Station on Saturday 24th April 2010.

The Programme is;

13.00. Assemble at Aylsham.

13.15. Lunch in the 'Whistlestop'.

15.30.  Train departs Aylsham.

16.15. Train arrives at Wroxham.

16.40. Train departs Wroxham for return to Aylsham.

17.15. Train arrives back at Aylsham.

17.30. Tea & Coffee served.

18.00. A. G. M. commences in the 'Whistlestop'.


Lunch menu choices,

A. Roast Beef dinner with potatoes and seasonal vegetables.
B. Chicken Quorn with potatoes and seasonal vegetables.

C. Apple Pie.
D. Luscious Lemon.


Dress: Informal

All forms must be returned to him no later than 31st March 2010.

With regard to the meeting, Norman Duffield retires by rotation but is eligible for re-election.
